Dulles South Station Police Report: Aldie Teen Charged with Eluding and Reckless Driving, Deer Causes Severe Auto Crash in Leesburg

A summary of incidents reported for Sept. 29-Oct. 5.

There was one auto crash, two destruction of property incidents, one larceny, one incident of reckless driving and one suspicious event included in the Dulles South Station Daily Crime Reports for the week ending on Oct. 5.  

Auto Crash 

  • Around 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 3, deputies responded to the area of James Monroe Highway north of Lime Kiln Road for a report of a serious motor vehicle crash. Investigation into the collision revealed that a 22-year-old Warrenton man was driving a 2009 Ford Fusion southbound when the Fusion struck a deer. Witness accounts indicated that after striking the deer, the Fusion swerved several times and crossed into the northbound lane, presenting the passenger side doors to the front of a northbound 2006 Ford Explorer driven by a 28-year-old Leesburg man. The driver of the Explorer was transported to Inova Loudoun Hospital, Cornwall Campus, treated and released. The driver of the Ford Fusion was airlifted to Inova Fairfax Hospital for treatment and was expected to be released. Traffic was rerouted in this area for over an hour. No charges are pending. 

Destruction of Property

  • Between 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 28 and 1 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29, unknown subject(s) damaged two exterior panel boxes at a gazebo on the 25200 block of Diligence Court. The damaged boxes are the property of the Kirkpatrick Farms Homeowners Association. 
  • Between 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 28 and 6:50 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29, unknown subject(s) damaged two windows to a residence under renovation on the 42400 block of Leesylvania Court.  

Larceny 

  • Unknown subject(s) removed supplies from a construction site on the 25100 block of Hummocky Terrace between 7:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 5. 

Reckless Driving

  • Around 12:45 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 30, a deputy on patrol in the area of John Mosby Highway and Elk Lick Road observed on RADAR a vehicle traveling well in excess of the posted speed limit. The deputy initiated a traffic stop and the driver continued to drive recklessly before finally coming to a stop on Evergreen Mills Road at Loudoun County Parkway. The driver, Andrew R. Burgess, 18, of Aldie was charged with eluding and reckless driving. [Author’s Note: The Loudoun County Office of the Sheriff also listed this incident in the category of Eluding.]  

Suspicious Event 

  • Between 3:30 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 30, an Ashburn resident observed an unknown subject stop near a school bus on Belmont Ridge Road and take photographs of the students getting off the bus. The subject was described as male with light brown skin, with a slim build between 20 and 30 years old.
