Dulles South Station Police Report: Street Signs Stolen in Middleburg, Leesburg Man Dies in Auto Crash and Multiple Vehicle Thefts in Ashburn and Brambleton
A summary of incidents reported for Dec. 15-21.

There was one burglary, one destruction of property incident, one fatal auto crash, 10 larcenies and one missing persons incident included in the Dulles South Station Daily Crime Reports for the week ending on Dec. 21.
Burglary

- Between 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16 and 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17, unknown subject(s) entered an open garage on the 23200 block of Hales Trace Drive and entered an unlocked vehicle parked inside. A purse and its contents were removed. A set of golf clubs were removed from the garage.
Destruction of Property
- Between 2:30 p.m. and 4:26 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 18, unknown subject(s) damaged several Christmas decorations at a residence on the 25300 block of Talent Street.
Fatal Auto Crash

- Around 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16, Chauncey Smith, Jr., 57, of Leesburg, was traveling south on Route 15 in a 1985 Chevrolet Corvette when his vehicle left the roadway near Oatlands Road. The vehicle then crossed back across the roadway and struck a tree. Smith lost his life at the scene. The cause of the crash is being investigated by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit.
Larcenies
- Between noon on Thursday, Dec. 1 and 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17, unknown subject(s) removed several street signs in the area of the following intersections: Salamander Lane and Foxcroft Road, Glenwood Park Lane and Foxcroft Road, Middleburg Hunt Lane and Foxcroft Road, and Pot House Road and Snake Hill Road.
- Between 4:45 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16 and 4:15 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17, unknown subject(s) removed power tools and truck tires from a construction site on the 26200 block of Lightridge Farm Road. Five padlocks were damaged to gain entry to the trailers that contained the power tools.
- Between 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16 and 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17, unknown subject(s) entered an unlocked vehicle on the 42600 block of Explorer Drive and removed a laptop, a briefcase, an MP3 player and other documents.
- Between 3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16 and 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17, unknown subject(s) entered an unlocked vehicle on the 23000 block of Minerva Drive and removed a purse and its contents.
- Between 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16 and 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17, unknown subject(s) entered an unlocked vehicle on the 23000 block of Minerva Drive and removed a GPS unit.
- Between 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16 and 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17, unknown subject(s) entered a vehicle on the 23000 block of Eagle Watch Court and removed a purse.
- Between 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16 and noon on Sunday, Dec. 18, unknown subject(s) entered an unlocked vehicle on the 42700 block of Explorer Drive and removed a laptop.
- After learning of other larcenies from vehicles in the area, a resident of the 23000 block of Eagle Watch Court reported unknown subject(s) entering their unlocked vehicle between 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16 and noon on Sunday, Dec. 18 and removed a wallet and its contents.
- Unknown subject(s) removed copper wiring from a storage building on the 26100 block of Lightridge Farm Road between 6 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 15 and 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 19.
- Unknown subject(s) removed a bicycle from the driveway of a residence on the 25200 block of Talent Street between 5 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 20.
Missing Persons
- Deputies responded to the area of the 25100 block of Riding Center Drive between 5 p.m. and 6:12 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 15 for a report of two missing 7-year-old females. A deputy en route to the call observed two girls walking in the area who matched the description of the missing children. The two girls initially reported that an unknown male picked them up and later dropped them of in the area where they were located by the deputy. The two later recanted their story.
