Police Investigate Report of Gunshots Saturday Morning in Alexandria
No victim was located early Saturday, according to police.

Coming on the heels of a fatal shooting this week, Alexandria Police reported they were investigating a call early Saturday about gunshots being fired in an area off of Duke Street.
Police said in an alert sent out at about 4 a.m. Saturday that they were investigating the report of gunshots fired in the 100 block of Yale Drive (see map below) and did not find any victims.
A man was shot in that neighborhood, in the 100 block of Ellsworth Court, on Aug. 15. He was transported to the hospital with a non-life threatening wound.

The area is just off of Duke Street, behind the Alexandria Commons shopping center.
Wednesday night, Leon Williams, 37, of Alexandria was shot at about 11:45 p.m. on Belle Pre Way and later died at the hospital, according to police. Police have not released any information about a suspect or suspects in the case.

A man was fatally shot July 2 near that location, in the 700 block of N. Fayette Street; another man was shot in that area, in the 1000 block of First Street on Aug. 1. He was hospitalized with several gunshot wounds.
