Virtual Opioid Overdose & Naloxone Education Training - September 11, 2026 (fairfaxcounty.gov) — Fairfax County and City of Fairfax residents can join a free virtual training on September 11 to learn how to recognize and respond to opioid overdoses and administer naloxone nasal spray. After completing the hour-long class, eligible local participants can request a complimentary box of naloxone and an overdose response kit with clear follow-up instructions.

2. Car Tax Payments Due Oct. 5 – What You Need to Know (fairfaxcounty.gov) — Fairfax County residents have until Thursday, Oct. 5 to pay their personal property "car tax," with multiple options including free online e-check payments, mail, drop boxes and in-person service at the Government Center. The county has approved 10% tax relief for 2023 bills and will extend weekday office hours leading up to the deadline, with additional relief programs available for qualifying seniors and people with disabilities.

3. Fiery Crash Kills 3 on I-66 Express Lanes in Fairfax County (thewinchestergazette.com) — A deadly crash on the I-66 Express Lanes near Gallows Road in Fairfax County killed three people and shut down westbound lanes for nearly seven hours. Virginia State Police say a Honda Pilot struck a stopped truck carrying oxygen tanks, igniting a fire, and have charged the truck and Toyota drivers with reckless driving.

Former student sues GW for negligence after flooding in Mitchell Hall caused injuries (gwhatchet.com) — A former George Washington University student from Fairfax is suing the school for $10 million, alleging untreated flooding and mold in his Mitchell Hall dorm in 2023 caused permanent physical and psychological injuries. The complaint details his hospitalization at a Fairfax hospital, claims of unsafe housing conditions, and prior reports of mold issues in the same residence hall.
