• Young teen on a bike killed in Fairfax City, Va. crash (wtop.com) — A 13-year-old bicyclist was struck and killed Wednesday afternoon near a Fairfax City shopping center on Pickett Road, and police are asking anyone with information to come forward. The victim, a Fairfax County Public Schools student, was one of three students hit by vehicles that day, prompting the superintendent to urge families to review safety and drivers to slow down.
   

• Kiss-and-ride congestion a growing safety concern at Fairfax County schools, report finds (ffxnow.com) — Fairfax County Public Schools officials say overcrowded kiss-and-ride lines have become their biggest operational concern, creating dangerous traffic and risky drop-offs around campuses. A new Safe Routes to Schools report urges better traffic patterns, more walking and busing, and possible infrastructure fixes, while school board members push for faster action so Fairfax-area students can travel more safely each day.
   

• Celebration of 250 Years of American Independence Continues Oct. 2. (loudoun.gov) — Fairfax County's circuit court clerk is partnering with Loudoun's clerk to showcase rare founding-era documents, including a page from George Washington's handwritten will. Fairfax-area residents can attend this free exhibit at Leesburg's Charles Hamilton Houston Courthouse on Friday, Oct. 2, from 6–8 p.m., and see original signatures from several Founding Fathers up close.
