Fairfax Connector Expands Transit Fare Assistance With TRIP100 (fairfaxcounty.gov) — Fairfax Connector is rolling out TRIP100, giving eligible Fairfax County residents a 100% fare discount on all Connector buses. The program, launching now with new Smart Trip cards expected in September, targets lower-income riders, older adults, and people with disabilities, while current TRIP users can ride free during the transition by showing their existing cards.
   

4. Fairfax County leaders salute the impact, legacy of late state Sen. Janet Howell (ffxnow.com) — Fairfax County supervisors paused their meeting to honor the late state Sen. Janet Howell, remembering her three decades of service to Fairfax County residents. Local leaders from both parties praised her work on budgets, mental health reforms, family-violence protections, and key community projects, noting how her influence stretched from PTA leadership in Fairfax County to chairing the powerful Senate Finance Committee.
   

5. 9 men busted in Fairfax County sting after police pose as underage kids online (wjla.com) — Fairfax County police arrested nine men in an undercover sting where detectives posed online as minors to intercept people allegedly seeking sexual encounters with children. The department urges local parents to closely monitor kids' online activity, use privacy settings, and report suspicious behavior, and it provides tip lines for anyone with information about similar incidents.
