After boundary review, some Fairfax County students attending new schools this fall (wtop.com) — Nearly 1,700 Fairfax County Public Schools students will attend different schools this fall after the district's first comprehensive boundary review in about 40 years, aimed at balancing enrollment and class sizes. Most changes affect elementary schools, eliminate several "attendance islands" and split feeders, and follow more than a year of public input, with some students allowed to stay at their previous schools depending on grade.
   

2. Fairfax County's Latest Road Shark Campaign Was Largest Enforcement Effort of 2026 (northernvirginiamag.com) — Fairfax County drivers saw 16,235 citations and warnings issued during the latest Road Shark traffic safety campaign, the largest enforcement push of 2026 so far. Police say the effort, run with Virginia State Police, targets speeding, reckless and distracted driving to improve safety on local roads. Another enforcement wave is already scheduled to begin October 12, so residents should expect stepped-up patrols again this fall.
   

3. Fairfax, VA: I-66 Comes to a Standstill After Goofball Driver Comes to a Dead Stop to Squeeze Across Gore Zone Into Express Lane (tiremeetsroad.com) — Dashcam footage from a Fairfax-area driver shows a motorist on I-66 near the Vienna–Fairfax border coming to a near stop and cutting across lanes to reach the express lanes, briefly slowing traffic but avoiding a crash.
