April Proclaimed National Pickleball Month By Fairfax City Council
Fairfax City Council presented plaques to the owner of a pickleball center and a former council member who has advocated for the sport.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — Fairfax City Council proclaimed April as National Pickleball Month in the city at its regular meeting on Tuesday night.
After reading the proclamation, Mayor Catherine Read presented a plaque to former city council member Janice Miller, who is an avid pickleball player and advocated for the sport while on the council.
"It's a great sport in this community and the city has really embraced it," Miller said. "Pickleball people are great, great friends, and they bring a lot of vibrancy to our community and they can spend money here, so it's a win-win for everyone."

Joining them for the presentation were local "pickleball ambassadors" Pete Montanino, Ron Tugwell and Peggy Tugwell.
"You guys have done so much for our community, giving us the opportunity to play right after the pandemic at Van Dyke Park, and then what you've done at Green Acres," Montanino said.
Green Acres Center, which is located at 4401 Sideburn Road, has five outdoor pickleball courts and one indoor court. Van Dyck Park, located at 3720 Blenheim Blvd. has four outdoor courts.
