Unidentified Flying Object Swoops By Fox Munching On Cat Treats Outside Virginia Home

A Ring video shows an odd white shape flying over a fox grabbing a snack outside a Fairfax home on Sunday. Tell Patch what you think it is.

FAIRFAX, VA — Is it a bat, bird, flying squirrel or something else? A Ring video captured the image of an unidentified flying object swooping by a fox chomping down on the windowsill of a home north of Fairfax City.

Since last year, the family of a Patch reporter has been feeding a feral cat they've nicknamed Popeye. Since one of his ears has been clipped, he likely has been fixed by someone who catches, neuters and releases feral cats. Many feral cats are unable to be domesticated, so capture/neuter/release programs are used to control the cat population in the wild.

Over the last year, the family's Ring camera has captured Popeye chasing off a fox. It's also recorded visits by a flying squirrel, a fox stealing Popeye's bowl, and a crow dipping a treat in a bowl of water.

Around 10:54 p.m, on Sunday, the Ring camera recorded one of the foxes grabbing a snack when a white shape swooped down near the window and over the fox's head. The image moves by so fast, it's difficult to see what it is. It could be the flying squirrel, a bird or maybe even a bat, since some have been spotted in the neighborhood.

What do you think the white shape is? Patch wants to know. Take Patch's informal survey and we'll share the results in a future story.
