Where are the Bats? A Discussion of Bats in an Urban/Suburban Landscape

Bats are some of the most mysterious and least understood mammals in North America, yet they contribute immensely to agriculture and landscape health. Right now bats face one of the largest wildlife health issues in recorded history and are dying in unprecedented numbers. Join Leslie Sturges, President of The Save Lucy Campaign, and learn about these fascinating, intelligent flying mammals and how you can help conserve them.

Instructor Biography: Leslie Sturges has been involved in grassroots bat conservation in the Washington metro area since 2001. As a licensed wildlife rehabilitator specializing in bats, she has had the opportunity to closely observe these unusual mammals, and she has presented educational programs, seminars, and workshops on bats to over 15,000 people. She trained with Bat World Sanctuary and Bat Conservation International and has collaborated with government agencies, schools, and other organizations in myriad conservation projects.

Workshop: Monday, January 30th, 2012. Time: 7:00-8:30 pm. Location: Green Acres Community Center (4401 Sideburn Road, Fairfax, VA 22030), Room 117.

Price: Donations will be collected for The Save Lucy Campaign. The Save Lucy Campaign is funded solely through donations and program fees. Program fees have been waived for this workshop. Your donation for this workshop is greatly appreciated.
