Starting January 25, Whole Foods will implement a color-coded seafood sustainability ranking system developed by Blue Ocean Institute and Monterey Bay Aquarium to help consumers choose more environmental food options.
- Green - species is plentiful; fishing methods inflict little damage to nearby habitats and wildlife
- Yellow - Some issues with species population or fishing methods
- Red - species suffers from overfishing; fishing methods inflict serious damage to nearby habitats and wildlife
