Fairfax City Police Officer Retires After 35.5 Years Of Service

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — Tuesday was Master Police Officer Jeff Morrison's last day with the City of Fairfax Police Department, according to a post on the department's official Twitter account. He was retiring after 35.5 years of service.

Morrison started out as a dispatcher before transitioning into the role of police officer. His assignments over the years included being a patrol officer, public information officer and firearms instructor. He was also a peer support team member and an administrative services officer.

"MPO Morrison was the lead officer when it came to police radios, police vehicles and building maintenance to include the firearms range," according to the tweet. "While doing all of his police duties, MPO Morrison also is a volunteer member of the City of Fairfax Fire Department."
