When Taylor Hall opens on the Fairfax Campus of George Mason University on August 27, the on-campus residence population will reach 6,500, making Mason one of the largest residential campuses in Virginia.
Taylor Hall, which cost $19 million and was designed and built by Balfour Beatty Construction, will house 295 freshmen and resident assistants in the 11-building Presidents Park area of the campus. Taylor Hall is named for President Zachary Taylor.
Taylor Hall features a ground floor multipurpose room with kitchen, laundry room, an outdoor plaza and bike racks. Each floor has access to common lounges and communal bathrooms.
The grand opening of the building takes place from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29 on the building’s front lawn. Old Blue BBQ and beverages will be served and music will be provided by the 10-piece Jukeboxx Band.
