Heat Advisory: Hour-by-Hour to 'Feels Like' 104 Degrees

Limit time outdoors, drink lots of water. A heat advisory and air quality warning are in place for the region Sunday.

Sunday may be our hottest day so far this year. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory from 1-8 p.m. Sunday.

The heat index, or “feels like” temperature, is expected to head over 100 degrees early this afternoon and maintain those dangerous temps until nightfall.

There’s also an air quality alert Sunday for parts of the region, including D.C. and communities in the areas of Prince William, Fairfax, Arlington, Alexandria, Loudoun, Prince George’s and Montgomery counties.

  • noon: 94 degrees
  • 1 p.m.: 97 degrees
  • 2 p.m.: 100 degrees
  • 3 p.m.: 102 degrees

  • 5 p.m.: 104 degrees
  • 6 p.m.: 104 degrees
  • 7 p.m.: 103 degrees
  • 8 p.m.: 102 degrees

The NWS warns heat-related illness is a risk for those without air conditioning or outdoors for an extended period.

“When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening,” according to the NWS statement. “Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water.”
