
A Fairfax County judge ruled in favor of the county's school board in the battle to keep Clifton Elementary School open.
In a circuit court hearing held this morning Judge Dennis J. Smith ruled that the Fairfax County School Board did not violate the "arbitrary and capricious" standard of Virginia law when it voted to close Clifton ES.
The decision was a major setback for the Clifton parents who are seeking a court injunction to save their community's school.

The judge did rule that plaintiffs had the legal standing to for their case, but he did not overrule the board's decision as many in the Clifton community had hoped.
