MD Man Arrested For String Of Tire Thefts At Fair Oaks Hotels
Fairfax County detectives arrested a man they say was responsible for a string of tire thefts at hotels in the Fair Oaks area.

FAIR OAKS, VA — Fairfax County police arrested a 42-year-old Maryland man they say was responsible for a string of tire thefts at several hotels in the Fair Oaks area since October.
Officers responded around 10:45 a.m. on Oct. 25, 2025 to the Extended Stay at 12055 Route 50 to investigate a larceny report, according to police. The victim told the officers that someone had stolen all of his tires from his vehicle.
Over the following months, investigators responded to numerous reports of tire thefts in the Fair Oaks district, which they determined were done by the same person, according to FCPD. They also identified a vehicle that was linked to all of the thefts.

On Sunday, Town of Herndon police received a license place reader alert in the area of Dranesville Road and Herndon Parkway, according to the incident report. Officers located the vehicle and detained the driver.
Through their investigation, FCPD detectives linked the driver of the vehicle, identified as 42-year-old David McCalop of District Heights, Maryland to the following incidents.

McCalop was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with eight counts each of grand larceny, larceny with intent to sell, and conspiracy to commit larceny. He was later released on a $12,000 bond. All 24 charges are felonies.
On Thursday morning, McCalop was arraigned in Fairfax County General District Court and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for April 21, according to court records.
Investigators are working to determine if McCalop was involved in any additional reported thefts.
