FAIRFAX CITY, VA — Bou Sokhom, a regular Virginia Lottery player, had won $2,000 in Bank a Million before the start of the coronavirus pandemic. That lucky streak continued on her birthday when she scratched an Extreme Millions ticket from the Virginia Lottery and won the $1 million second prize.

When her husband asked Sokhom what ticket she wanted for her special day, she told him to get her a $30 ticket. That ticket, purchased at the 7-Eleven at 3965 Jermatown Road in Fairfax, ended up making her birthday one to remember.

Sokhom had the choice of taking the full $1 million over 30 years or a one-time cash option of $657,030 before taxes. She chose the cash option. The store receives a $10,000 bonus from the Virginia Lottery for selling the winning ticket.
