Murder-Suicide Suspected in House Fire; Two Dead, Toddler and Identified Adult Male
The adult has been identified as 58-year-old Roy Eugene Rumsey, the apparent owner of the home.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — Homicide detectives are investigating the deaths of two people Wednesday inside a burning house at 12107 Fairfax Hunt Road as a potential murder-suicide, according to Fairfax County police.
The victims are described as an adult male and a female toddler, and the adult has been identified as 58-year-old Roy Eugene Rumsey, the apparent owner of the home.
The toddler has not been identified, and positive ID could take some time.

Police say the relationship, if any, between Rumsey and the toddler has not yet been determined. The Fairfax County Fire Marshal’s Office has determined that the fire was incendiary in nature.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct autopsies and ultimately determine cause and manner of death.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue arrived at the scene shortly after 11 a.m. and about found flames on both the first and second floors of the home. It took firefighters about 40 minutes to extinguish the fire, after which they entered the home and found two dead occupants.
