Narcotics Arrest Follows Argument At Fairfax City Business: Police

FAIRFAX CITY , VA — A 29-year-old Sterling man is facing multiple charges, including possession of schedule one narcotics, after police responded for the report of a person acting disorderly inside a Fairfax City business on Wednesday.

Officers were dispatched around 3:20 p.m., to investigate a disturbance at the CVS located at 11003 Fairfax Blvd. The officers determined that a man had entered the business and began arguing with staff members over a returned item.

Police located the man nearby and discovered that he was wanted on an active arrest warrant out of Fairfax County. While searching the man's property, the officers found narcotics, according to police.

City of Fairfax Police arrested Gabriel Gonzalez-Lopez of Sterling and took him to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. Once there, police charged him with possession of schedule one narcotics, interfering with phone communication, and curse and abuse. City police also served Gonzalez-Lopez with the Fairfax County warrant for failing to appear in court. He was then held without bond.

Gonzalez-Lopez had numerous charges stretching back to 2016, according to court records. A bench warrant was issued on Dec. 13, 2023 for Gonazalez-Lopez's arrest, after he failed to appear at a hearing in Fairfax County District Court. He had been charged on Aug. 3, 2023 for driving without a license in the Town of Herndon. Following his arrest on Wednesday, a new hearing was scheduled for 9 a.m. on June 26.

On Wednesday, Gonazlez-Lopez was also tried in abstentia and found guilty on the following infractions connected to his Aug. 3, 2023 arrest in Herndon:

  • Failing to display both license plates: $25 fine, plus $16 in court costs.
  • Driving with an expired registration: fined $25 plus $16 in court costs.

In addition, Gonzalez-Lopez was tried in absentia on Dec. 13, 2023 on a charge of driving with an expired inspection, which stemmed from the same arrest in August. He was found guilty in abstentia and ordered to pay a $30 fine and $102 in court costs, both of which remain past due, according to court records.
