Spice 6, one of the first fast-casual Indian restaurants to open in the D.C. area, is opening a second location at 11 a.m. today, just steps from the Dunn Loring Metro station. Serving lunch and dinner, the modern quick-serve eatery will offer Indian fare using authentic techniques and family recipes.

The new restaurant is at 2674-I Avenir Place, south of Interstate 66 and west of Gallows Road (see map below). Spice 6 also has a location in Hyattsville, Md.

What’s the same: The second restaurant will continue the tradition of fresh naan, baked to order, proteins grilled daily in a tandoor oven, fresh rice bowls topped with house-made paneer, refreshing mango & rose lassis using fresh-made yogurt, and hand-made samosas.

What’s new: More salad options including spinach, arugula, romaine and mixed green varieties to customize any salad bowl.

What’s notable: Chaat Papri is a unique and authentic Indian street food option featuring a bowl of crunchy naan chips topped with chickpeas, onions and choice of curries for Indian-style nachos. Another fun mashup, the Naan Pizza, allows diners to pick their toppings and create a uniquely flavored version of a classic dish.

What’s fussy: All curries are vegan based and bowls can be customized to accommodate any food restrictions, including vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and halal.
