Newspaper Thief Nabbed In Fairfax: Police
Newspapers are dead? Some folks are willing to steal to get them, according to Fairfax Police. Also, the rest of the daily crime report.

FAIRFAX, VA — Ah, newspapers. They say no one really wants or needs them anymore. There's the Internet and smart phones. Newspapers? Please. How quaint.
But you know what? A lot of folks still like newspapers, those broadsheet bundles of joy that played a major role in the creation of the United States. One man in Fairfax, however, apparently likes newspapers so much he's willing to steal to get them, according to Fairfax Police.

Shortly before 10 p.m. Monday, an employee with the 7-Eleven at 3910 University Drive told police a man had picked up two newspapers and put them in his backpack. John Freeland Rose, 59, of Layton Hall Drive in Fairfax, was charged with concealment of merchandise.

DUI Arrest

Main Street / Roberts Road – On July 17 at 3:45 PM an officer investigating a traffic crash determined that one of the drivers involved was intoxicated. Christopher Michael Croghan, 31, of 8529 Forest Street, Annandale, was transported to the Adult Detention Center where he was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and issued a traffic summons for following too closely.
