Northern Virginia Weather: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

According to the area branch of the National Weather Service, the weekend offers all manner of things both good and not so good.

STERLING, VA — Here's a silver lining for your weekend weather: Sunday is expected to bear sunshine following a mostly cloudy Saturday with high winds, according to the area arm of the National Weather Service in Sterling.

Highs both days will push 60 degrees but that's about it.

Tonight: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 2am, then a chance of showers. Patchy fog after 2am. Low around 48. West wind 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Saturday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 59. Northwest wind 13 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 61. Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph.

Monday: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 65. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
