Police: Local Teen Caught Breaking Into Cars

Suspect took wallets, other items from parked vehicles, say Fairfax City police.

Fairfax City police arrested a local teenager Tuesday morning after they found that he had broken into several parked cars and stolen money.

Officers responded at 7:13 a.m. to a report of a suspicious young man looking into vehicles in the 9800 block of Hampton Lane, according to a police report. They located Cody Alan Smith, 18, of 3627 Embassy Lane, in Fairfax, and determined that he had entered several parked vehicles and taken wallets, loose change and other items.

Smith was arrested and transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with petit larceny and vehicle tampering and ordered held without bond pending a court hearing, the police said.
