Virginia On-Time Graduation Data: How Fairfax High School Did
Reports from the Virginia Department of Education show the school's on-time graduation rates compared to the district and state.
FAIRFAX CITY, VA — Fairfax High School outperforms the school district and state for on-time graduation rates, according to data released by the Virginia Department of Education Tuesday.
The school's on-time graduation rate for the 2018-2019 school year was 93.4 percent. By comparison, Fairfax County Public Schools overall had a 91.3 percent on-time graduation rate and Virginia had 91.5 percent.
The school also outperformed the school district and state among some subgroups of students. The 72.7 percent of English language learners graduating on time outpaced the district's 67.7 percent and state's 71.1 percent. Among students with disabilities, however, 87.9 percent graduated on time, compared to 92.1 percent in the district and 88.5 percent in Virginia.

Economically disadvantaged students had an 82.4 percent on-time graduation rate, slightly lower than district and state percentages.
Among Asian students, who make up 22.8 percent of the student population, 99.2 percent graduated on time. Among black students, who make up 9.1 percent of the student population, 96.8 percent graduated on time. Among Hispanic students, who make up 24.2 percent, 78.3 percent graduated on time — higher than the district average of 74.7 percent but lower than the state's 80.1 percent. According to the report, 97.3 percent of white students graduated on time.

Fairfax High School had 566 students enrolled in 12th grade during the last school year. Other demographics comprising the student body include 38.3 percent white, 5.1 percent two or more races, 0.3 percent American Indian and 0.2 percent Native Hawaiian. At Fairfax High, 12.8 percent of students have disabilities, 26.1 percent are economically disadvantaged and 18.2 percent are English learners.
The Fairfax High School class of 2019 had 65.9 percent with advanced diplomas, 31.4 percent with standard or other diplomas and 2.7 percent of students who dropped out.
