Woodson G-Lax Continues Winning Ways
After a slow start with two early losses the Lady Cavaliers are again playing winning lacrosse.
W.T. Woodson's girls lacrosse team is on roll. The Lady Cavaliers have won six straight games and sit tied with Lake Braddock atop the Patriot District standings. Over the past week Woodson played particularly well in wins over Patriot District rivals T.C. Williams, West Potomac, and Annandale.
On April 16th the Cavaliers defended their home turf at Woodson's Pat Cunningham stadium with a convincing 23 - 5 win over the T.C. Williams Titans of Alexandria. Relying on an advantage in draw controls, Woodson jumped in front early, racing to a 16 - 2 halftime lead. Woodson continued its up tempo offense in the second half en route to the win behind a balanced scoring attack. In all, eleven Cavaliers found the net against the Titans.
Woodson then traveled to Alexandria on Thursday April 18th to face the West Potomac Wolverines. Although the game looked to be a tight affair going into the opening draw, the Cavaliers continued their winning ways to find themselves right where they hoped to be... on the winning end of a 20 – 10 final score.

The Cavs capped their recent winning run at home on April 22nd against local rival Annandale. Woodson fought back from a slow start against the Atoms to notch a 25 - 13 win at Pat Cunningham Stadium. The Atoms used a one-sided draw control advantage early in the game to take a 5 - 3 lead before Woodson's midfield took control in the center circle. Once the Cavs settled in they maintained the offensive pressure to take a 14 - 9 lead at halftime. Woodson's lead grew to double digits in the second half as both teams played up tempo until the final horn.
The win moves the Cavs' record to 6 - 2 entering Thursday's Patriot District match on the road against West Springfield.
