Would-Be ATM Thief Arrested In Fairfax
An man who attempted to rob women at a Wells Fargo ATM drive-through and then robbed an Aldi grocery store was arrested Monday in Fairfax.

FAIRFAX, VA — An man who attempted to rob two women at a Wells Fargo ATM drive-through last week and then robbed an Aldi grocery store was arrested Monday, according to Fairfax County Police. Richard Scott Myers, 52, of the 11300 block of Aristotle Drive was charged with two county of attempted robbery and one count of petit larceny. He's being held without bond.
Around 8:45 a.m. last Tuesday, a woman who had received cash from the ATM at 10944 Fairfax Boulevard was approached by a man who tried to grab the money but she refused and he fled. Shortly afterward, he got into the passenger seat of a vehicle in the ATM lane and again tried to grab cash. Again the woman refused, and again he fled.

A few minutes later, he went to the Aldi at 11001 Lee Highway. He presented money to pay for a purchase but when the cash register drawer opened, he reached in, grabbed a handful of money and fled on foot.
