Man Found Dead In Fairfax County Lockup; Investigation Underway
A West Virginia man facing felony charges was found dead in his cell at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, according to police.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — The death of a 32-year-old West Virginia man, who was being held on felony charges at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, is being investigated by the Fairfax County Police Department.
On Monday, around 6:17 p.m., deputies found Sam Zu Yung of Ranson, West Virginia, unresponsive in his single cell at the ADC. Deputies and EMS immediately began performing life-saving measures. Yung was later declared deceased.
A preliminary investigation determined foul play was not suspected.

Fairfax County Police arrested Yung on Feb. 16 for entering a home in the 7400 block of Add Drive near Woodley in West Falls Church and destroying property, according to the Fairfax Times.
During the arrest, police determined Yung had a firearm and that he and the victim knew each other, according to the Times. No injuries were reported.

Yung was charged with brandishing a firearm on or near a school, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony-first offense, entering a house while armed and destruction of property under $1,000 in value, according to court documents. His preliminary hearing was scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Friday in Fairfax County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
Yung was held without bond in the ADU since his arrest in February, according to the police.
By policy, the FCPD investigates all Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office in-custody deaths.
