After $11K Reward, Woodlawn Homicide Suspect Arrested
"A lot of people have seen him, but no one has called," the victim's relative said about the wanted homicide suspect.

UPDATE: Fairfax County Police arrested the homicide suspect, Kyjuan Omar Braxton Trott-McLean, on Thursday. He was arrested during a pursuit in the 3800 block of Colonial Avenue in Mount Vernon. Updates will be provided at a later time.
WOODLAWN, VA — An increased reward is being offered for the arrest of a wanted homicide suspect in the Woodlawn area.
Kyjuan Omar Braxton Trott-McLean, of Mount Vernon, is wanted in the Oct. 2 homicide of Brandon Wims, 31, of Maryland. An $11,000 reward will be given for information that leads to his arrest.

The increased reward was offered by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Victims’ Rights Foundation at a Wednesday police news conference.
"We know that Trott-McLean knows that he is wanted," said Police Chief Kevin Davis. "We know that he's still local. And we know that he's playing games with the Fairfax County Police Department. And while he's playing his games he's putting this community at risk."

Greg Wims, founder of the Victims' Rights Foundation and great uncle of the victim, said this is the first time in the foundation's 26-year history a member of their family was killed. The foundation, which provides victim support services, contributed a reward to the $11,000 reward for the wanted suspect.
"We ask everyone who sees this in the news to please call 911, because we understand from family members that this gentleman is in the community," said Greg Wims. "A lot of people have seen him, but no one has called."
Brandon Wims's mother also spoke at the news conference, calling for information.
"I am broken without my child. He was a good kid, a good son, a good uncle, a good friend, a good cousin," said Wims, who did not disclose her full name at the news conference. "He was just good to anyone he came across, and he was not deserving of this vicious killing."
Police had responded to a gunshots report in the 5800 block of St. Gregorys Lane in Woodlawn around 7 a.m. on Oct. 2. As officers responded, the victim was dropped off at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital with upper body gunshot wounds and later went to Inova Fairfax Hospital. Wims was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Detectives identified Trott-McLean as the suspect. Police believe Trott-McLean saw Wims in the backseat of a vehicle, exited his vehicle and shot Wims multiple times.
Police obtained warrants for charges of second degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. The gun used in the homicide has not been found by police.

Davis said police were close to arresting Trott-McLean several times. Police had responded to the 8700 block of Millbrook Place in Mount Vernon on Nov. 3 and 27 but did not find the suspect.
Maj. Ed O'Carroll, commander of the police department's Major Crimes Bureau, said Trott-McLean had called 911 about a dispute but wasn't on the scene when police arrived.
Davis said the community will continue to see an increased police presence while Trott-McLean remains wanted.
"We need to get Trott-McLean off the street, and we think this enhanced reward announcement will do just that," Davis said.
O'Carroll said the suspect should be considered "armed and dangerous" and should not be approached.
"I do have a message for our killer: surrender on your terms or be arrested on ours," said O'Carroll.
