Alexandria Among Top Cities Where Women Are Successful
Alexandria is one of the top cities where women own their own businesses and earn high salaries.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—If you're a woman and live in Alexandria, you're among some of the most successful working women in the nation.
A new study from Smart Asset ranked Alexandria fourth (tied with San Francisco) among cities where women are most successful. Researchers factored in the percent of women with bachelor’s degrees, median earnings for full-time working women, percent of businesses owned by women, women’s unemployment rate, average housing cost as a percent of a full-time working woman’s income and percent of women with high incomes to determine the rankings.
Alexandria did well in these categories, with women earning an average salary of $67,000, the fifth highest among the ranked cities. The city also boasts 31 percent of businesses that are female owned and 44 percent of females with high incomes ($75,000 or above).

The DC area overall dominated the rankings, with Arlington, Alexandria and Washington, D.C.all claiming top spots. Women in these cities earn high salaries, pushing them up the rankings.
