$5K VA Lottery Win Becomes $100K When Alexandria Man Plays Winning Numbers On 20 Tickets
An Alexandria man's decision to play the same four numbers on 20 Pick 4 tickets earns him $100,000 from the Virginia Lottery.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — An Alexandria man's decision to play the same four numbers 20 times in the Virginia Lottery's nighttime Pick 4 drawing on March 8 turned out to be a good one, especially when they turned out to be winning numbers, according to a release.
The daily Pick 4 drawings take place at 1:59 p.m. and 11 p.m., with the $5,000 top prize going to the person who matches all four numbers.
Fekru Hirpo told lottery officials that he usually doesn't play the same numbers on so many tickets. But for some reason, he got a hunch that it would be a good thing to do.

Acting on that hunch, Hirpo paid $1 a piece for 20 Pick 4 tickets at Four Mile Run Shell located at 4060 South Four Mile Run Drive in Arlington.
When the numbers 2-5-2-7 were drawn, they matched Hirpo's. They were even in the same order. That chances of that happening are 1 out 10,000, according to the Virginia Lottery.

Since Hirpo played the same number 20 times, he multiplied his total winnings, turning $5,000 into $100,000. He told lottery officials that he had no immediate plans for how he was going to spend the money.
