Body Of Missing Teen Jholie Moussa Found In Mount Vernon

Police have confirmed the body found in a Mount Vernon park is missing teen Jholie Moussa.

MOUNT VERNON, VA—Police have confirmed the body found in Woodlawn Park Friday, Jan. 26 is missing Mount Vernon teen Jholie Moussa. The death is being investigated as a homicide. Autopsy results have not been released.

Moussa, 16, had last been seen Jan. 12 leaving her home in the 4200 block of Sonia Court. Police have tentatively identified her based on appearance and a tattoo. She was described as having a tattoo of an infinity symbol with her name and her twin sister's name (Jholie and Zhane).

Officers came across the body just off a wooden path in the 4800 block of Manor Drive around 11 a.m. The body had been almost completely covered by leaves and brush. It was the second time detectives searched the park. The body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Manassas. The confirmed identification, cause and manner of death will be known as early as Saturday.

Moussa's mother Syreeta Hill has said she believed her daughter did not run away on her own account. According to Hill, Jholie told her twin sister she would be back and didn't bring personal items with. The teen had been entered as a runaway juvenile in the National Crime Information Center database.

Detectives are continuing to interview people and pursue leads in this case. The FBI, Norfolk Police Department, and Prince William County Police Department assisted with the search.
