7-Eleven Store Gaming Machines Thefts Lead To Arrests In Fairfax County

Two men have been charged in the latest of thefts or attempted thefts of gaming machines from 7-Eleven stores.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — Two people have been arrested in the latest of a string of gaming machine thefts from 7-Eleven convenience stores in Fairfax County.

Fairfax County Police had identified six thefts of gaming machines or money from gaming machines since late 2022. In all the incidents, the suspects enter 7-Eleven locations and remove gaming machines or open the machines to take money. The incidents happened in McLean, Springfield and Alexandria addresses in Fairfax County.

Around 8:55 p.m. Tuesday, police were called to the latest incident at 7-Eleven, 8434 Frye Road, Alexandria in the Woodlawn area. An employee reported that two men took a gaming machine and fled in a silver truck west on Frye Road.

Officers found a truck matching the description near the 7-Eleven at 8226 Russell Road in the Woodlawn area. According to police, parts of a gaming machine were visible in the truck bed, and the two men had clothes matching surveillance footage from the 7-Eleven on Frye Road.

The driver, Leonard Jones, 59, of Maryland, and passenger, Terrell Hardy, 35, of Maryland, were arrested. Jones was charged with grand larceny, possession of burglarious tools, two counts of destruction of property and petit larceny. Hardy was charged with grand larceny, destruction of property and simple assault.

Additional charges are possible as detectives review the other six gaming machine thefts.

  • 7-Eleven, 7214 Beulah Street, Alexandria, VA, Jan. 16 at 4:23 p.m. (attempt)
  • 7-Eleven, 8434 Frye Road, Alexandria, VA, Jan. 16 at 1:10 p.m. (attempt)
  • 7-Eleven, 4818 Beauregard Street, Alexandria, VA, Jan. 21 at 10:59 p.m.

In light of the thefts, police encourage business owners to secure gaming machines and ATMs to the floor, keep working security cameras and have front windows clear of obstruction. If a crime is in progress, business owners can call police immediately.
