Fairfax County School Board Awards Contract In Superintendent Search
A recruitment firm has been contracted as Superintendent Scott Brabrand will leave FCPS at the end of the school year.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — A search firm was awarded a contract Thursday in the search for a new superintendent at Fairfax County Public Schools.
The Fairfax County School Board voted to give a contract to human resources recruitment firm GR Recruiting for a nationwide superintendent search. The search comes after Superintendent Scott Brabrand announced he will not seek a new contract and will leave FCPS at the end of the 2021-2022 school year. He has been superintendent since 2017.
Brabrand will stay in the position until June 30, 2022. GR Recruiting will work with the school board to have a new superintendent in place by July 1, 2022.

"We look forward to working with GR Recruiting in the months ahead," said Stella Pekarsky, Fairfax County School Board chair and Sully District representative. "It is critically important that we have a robust search process with meaningful participation from parents, students, staff, and the community to help determine the characteristics we are looking for in our next superintendent and ultimately hire the best person to lead our school division into the future."
The school board chose GR Recruiting due to its record of hiring top quality education candidates, experience in superintendent searches in large school districts, understanding of the community engagement process, and focus on transition support for the school board and new superintendent, according to a FCPS statement. FCPS is Virginia's largest school district with over 178,000 students.
