Key Dates To Know For November 2022 General Election In Greater Alexandria
The only 2022 election in greater Alexandria will be the 8th congressional district as redrawn maps take effect with midterm elections.

FORT HUNT, VA — Early voting at the Mount Vernon Governmental Center and other locations will begin Friday, Sept. 23 for the Nov. 8 general election, according to the Fairfax County Office of Elections.
The only election for greater Alexandria voters in Fairfax County will be the 8th congressional district race. Rep. Don Beyer (D-Alexandria) faces Republican Karina Lipsman. The district, which includes all of the City of Alexandria, Arlington County, City of Falls Church and part of Fairfax County, is considered solid Democrat in the 2022 Cook Political Report's House race ratings.
Redrawn congressional district maps will take effect with the 2022 election. The 8th congressional district still contains all of Arlington County, City of Alexandria and City of Falls Church, but the boundaries will be adjusted in Fairfax County. The Route 1 corridor communities of Mount Vernon, Woodlawn, Hybla Valley, Groveton, Fort Hunt, Huntington and Belle Haven continue to be in the 8th congressional district.

In June, Beyer defeated Democratic primary opponent Victoria Virasingh with 77 percent of the vote.
