Mount Vernon District Meeting Planned On Fairfax County Budget

Officials will discuss the proposed Fairfax County and public schools budgets at the virtual town hall.

MOUNT VERNON, VA — After Fairfax County Executive Bryan Hill presented his fiscal year 2022 budget proposal, a Mount Vernon District town hall meeting on the budget will be held on March 1 at 7 p.m.

Mount Vernon District Supervisor Dan Storck and the district's School Board representative Karen Corbett Sanders will host the virtual town hall with staff to discuss the proposed budget for the county and schools.

The meeting will include presentations on the budgets and a chance to ask questions. Questions can be submitted in advance by email to MtVernon@fairfaxcounty.gov or during the meeting to MtVernon@fairfaxcounty.gov, on the Facebook Live Feed, Twitter @DanStorck or the call-in phone line at 703-324-1114.

The proposed county budget calls for a one-cent real estate tax cut, which would make the real estate tax rate $1.14 per $100 of assessed value. But based on increased property assessment values, the average real estate tax bill could go up by $224. The Board of Supervisors will hold public hearings on April 13 to 15, mark-up of the budget on April 27, and adoption on May 4.
