Mount Vernon Shooting Leads To Arrest, Memorial Fund For Victim

The shooting resulted in the death of a 20-year-old and injury of his 18-year-old brother.

MOUNT VERNON, VA — Fairfax County Police have arrested a person in the double shooting that killed one and injured another on Monday, Dec. 30.

Jeremiah Mouzon, 20, of Centreville, was charged with degree murder, malicious shooting and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Detectives had identified the suspect and tracked him to Maryland. The Prince George’s County Police helped to take him into custody. Mouzon will remain at the Prince George’s Department of Corrections until he is extradited back to Fairfax County.

The shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. in the 7900 block of Sausalito Place. Jayden Quick, 20, dead inside a home with an apparent gunshot wound. The other victim, Kamren Quick, 18, was found with a gunshot wound and went to the hospital. His injuries are serious but non-life-threatening. NBC Washington reported that the victims were brothers.

A GoFundMe account is set up to help the Quick family with funeral costs. The family plans to announce arrangements at a later time.

"Jayden had a huge heart and loved his family dearly. He was known best for his gentle and humble spirit," stated the GoFundMe page. "Jayden always demonstrated a desire to serve others through his active involvement in several community organizations."

This was the 14th homicide of 2019 in Fairfax County.
