Scott Surovell Wins 36th District Senate Seat
Priorities include education, transportation and expanding Medicaid.

A familiar face to area voters — Scott Surovell — prevailed in Tuesday’s election to represent the 36th District in the Virginia Senate.
The seat was long represented by state Sen. Toddy Puller, who was elected in 1999 and gave her blessing to Surovell after announcing her retirement. Surovell has represented much of the area in Richmond as a delegate.
With all precincts reporting, Surovell took home 18,279 votes or 60.48 percent of the vote compared to his challenger, Republican Gerald Foreman, who won 11,884 votes or 39.32 percent.
