Update: Police Chasing Stolen Car Results In U.S. 1 Crash
Police chasing a stolen car on U.S. 1 in the Alexandria area led to the crash.

(Updated 5:23 p.m. Friday) ALEXANDRIA, VA — A stolen car crashed after a police car pursued it in the Alexandria area of Fairfax County Thursday night. The accident occurred on northbound U.S. 1 (Richmond Highway) between Belford Drive and Fordson Drive in Hybla Valley.
A police officer chased the stolen car on Richmond Highway and attempted to bring the car to a stop. The car swerved off the road and hit a light pole, which split. Three men from the car were transported to the hospital. Two are in stable condition, and one is in serious condition. The officer was not injured.
Police confirmed the car was stolen from DC earlier this week. Authorities continue to investigate and charges are expected.

The accident shut down northbound U.S. 1 overnight, but police said it was opened for morning rush hour. Police continue to investigate and will share more information. Stay with Patch for more updates.
