Teenager Charged in Huntington Park Homicide: Police

The body of the 42-year old victim was found in the park the morning of Aug. 5.

After months of investigation, Fairfax County Police detectives placed charges Wednesday against a teenager in connection to the murder of Khalid Aboumalik on August 5.

Aboumalik’s body was found by residents walking in the area that morning, who called 9-1-1, police said. Detectives responded to the scene, near Liberty Drive and Arlington Terrace, along with additional police resources, including a bloodhound and helicopter. He suffered apparent wounds and significant trauma to the upper body, police said. Aboumalik, of no fixed address, was 42.

The juvenile, 17, was already incarcerated in Fairfax County on a charge of robbery of the victim when he was charged with murder on Wednesday, Fairfax County Police said.

He is the second teen charged in the homicide.

The suspect is from the Huntington area of Fairfax County and police said they believe that he and the victim were acquainted with each other. Because he is a juvenile, his name was not publicly released, police said.

Detectives are continuing to investigate and additional charges or arrests may be forthcoming.
