A Snapchat video of the Virginia Tech women's lacrosse team rapping a racial slur in a song has sparked a debate about whether or not it was racist.

The video had been posted after the team's Saturday victory over Elon. In the video, white team member were seen rapping the lyrics to "Freaky Friday" by Lil Dicky, repeating the n-word numerous times.

John Sung, their coach, found out about the video the following day and met with the team. He told The Roanoke Times the team is "very apologetic and sorry."

"They had just won. They’re singing songs," he told The Roanoke Times. "The first couple songs were Disney songs…They were celebrating and they were dancing and they were excited. They’re good kids that made a bad decision."

The video drew mixed responses on social media. Some decried the team's action, while others questioned whether it was racist at all.
