What's Open, Closed For Christmas 2022 In Greater Alexandria

HYBLA VALLEY, VA — Christmas falls on a Sunday in 2022, so there will be various schedule changes in the surrounding week days.

Fairfax County government will close at noon on Friday, Dec. 23 and remain closed through Monday, Dec. 26. Other services have schedule changes on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day or surrounding days.

Below are the openings and closures to know for the Christmas holiday around greater Alexandria:

Fairfax County government offices: Closing at noon on Dec. 23, and closed through Dec. 26.

Fairfax County Public Schools: Winter break is Dec. 19 to Jan. 2.

Courts: Fairfax County Circuit Court and General District Court will be closed Dec. 23 to 26. Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court will be closed Dec. 26.

Department of Motor Vehicles: All DMV customer service centers are closed Dec. 23 to 26.

Fairfax Connector: Fairfax Connector will have Sunday service on Dec. 25 and 26. For more information, visit www.fairfaxcounty.gov/connector.

George Washington's Mount Vernon: Open daily, including on Christmas.

Huntley Meadows Visitor Center: Open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 23 and closed Dec. 24 to 26.

Libraries: All Fairfax County Public Library locations will be open from 10 a.m. to noon on Dec. 23 and closed Dec. 24 to 26.

Metro: Metrorail will be open 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Dec. 24, 7 a.m. to midnight on Dec. 25 and 7 a.m. to midnight on a Sunday holiday schedule on Dec. 26. Metrobus will be on a Sunday schedule on Dec. 26.

Post offices: Closed on Dec. 25.

Recreation centers: Fairfax County recreation centers are open regular hours on Dec. 23, open regular hours to noon on Dec. 24, closed on Dec. 25 and open regular hours on Dec. 26.

River Farm: Open Christmas Eve and closed Christmas Day through Jan. 2.

Trash and recycling: Fairfax County collection customers will not have collection services on Dec. 25. Private collection customers should check with their hauler for any changes.

Trash and recycling centers: The Recycling and Disposal Centers at the I-66 Transfer Station (4618 West Ox Road) and the I-95 Landfill Complex (9850 Furnace Road) close at 1 p.m. on Dec. 24 and are closed Dec. 25.
