Kiggans Welcomes Federal Highway Administrator Sean McMaster to Hampton Roads, Highlights Major Hampton Roads Projects (house.gov) — Hampton drivers face big changes as the I-64 corridor between Norfolk and Hampton is widened from four to eight lanes, including new tunnels, to ease one of the region's worst bottlenecks. Federal and state officials also outlined new funding, including a $310 million loan approval that's expected to save local taxpayers millions while supporting additional express lane and paving work.
   

2. Public Records: Suffolk apartments sold; Busch Gardens renews warehouse lease (pilotonline.com) — Several businesses are expanding or renewing their presence in Hampton, including new office leases at Pinewood Plaza on Commerce Drive and a retail lease for Fastest Labs of Hampton on Kecoughtan Road. The roundup also notes extended leases for Bull Island Brewing and warehouse space on Bell Street, alongside numerous commercial deals across Hampton Roads that signal ongoing regional growth.
   

3. What If Employer's Hidden Identity Causes Workers' Comp Claim to Be Filed Late? (insurancejournal.com) — A Virginia workers' compensation ruling involving a Foster Grandparents volunteer in Hampton's school system found her late claim valid because she was never told AmeriCorps was her legal employer. The commission said payments and tax forms from the City of Hampton reasonably led her to believe the city or local program was her employer, preventing AmeriCorps from using the filing deadline against her.
   

4. 66-year-old veteran advocates prostate cancer screening after overcoming doctor avoidance (13newsnow.com) — Doctors at Hampton University Proton Cancer Institute are urging men, especially as they age, to talk with their providers about prostate cancer screening before symptoms appear. A 66-year-old veteran who long avoided doctors now shares how a free screening changed his outlook and hopes his experience will encourage family and community members to get checked and discuss their risks.
