1.3K Coronavirus Recoveries Reported In Virginia Nursing Homes
Across Virginia, 570 new cases of the coronavirus were reported in the last day; 334 of these were in Northern Virginia.
VIRGINIA — The Virginia Department of Health confirmed 570 additional cases of the coronavirus and five new deaths Monday. It's the lowest number of new cases since May 24, when 495 new cases were reported. The latest cumulative totals are 51,251 cases, 5,143 hospitalizations and 1,477 deaths.
Reports of new cases have varied by day. On Sunday, 1,284 new cases represented the third highest total of daily cases since the crisis began in Virginia. The highest numbers of new daily cases were 1,615 and 1,483, on May 26 and 25, respectively.
Coronavirus hospitalizations are near the lowest level since VDH started sharing current hospitalization data in mid-April. There are 1,173 hospitalized patients with confirmed or pending coronavirus test results, a slight change from 1,171 on Saturday. On April 14, the first date VDH reported current hospitalizations, there were 1,282 COVID-19 patients across Virginia.

According to the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association, 6,557 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from hospitals.
There are 160 COVID-19 patients using ventilators, down from 169 on Saturday. A total of 545 ventilators are in use, down from 609 on Saturday. Total ventilator use among 2,982 available ventilators represents 18-percent use in Virginia. No hospitals are experiencing difficulty obtaining or restocking protective gear or other medical supplies in the next 72 hours.

The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association is also tracking current cases and recoveries in licensed nursing homes. There are 1,137 confirmed cases in nursing homes and 300 individuals with pending test results. There have been 1,390 recoveries of COVID-19 patients in nursing facilities. Numbers are based on licensed nursing homes that have reported data and do not reflect the situation at assisted living facilities.

Seven nursing facilities reported difficulty in obtaining N95 masks and isolation gowns in the next 72 hours, five reported difficulty obtaining surgical masks, five reported difficulty obtaining face shields, and three have difficulty obtaining gloves.
VDH reports a cumulative total of 5,289 cases and 830 deaths associated with outbreaks in long-term care facilities. The deaths in long-term care facilities account for 56 percent of Virginia's 1,477 coronavirus deaths. Outbreaks are defined as two or more laboratory-confirmed cases.
The 7-day average of percent positive tests is half of what it was in late April. As of June 4, the statewide average stood at 10 percent, compared to 20.1 percent on April 27. The 7-day moving average for Northern Virginia was 14.3 percent on June 4.
Northern Virginia's nine jurisdictions accounts for 334 of the commonwealth's 570 new cases on Monday. That includes 148 new cases in the Fairfax Health District, 95 in the Prince William Health District, 53 in Loudoun County, 31 in Arlington County and seven in Alexandria.
Northern Virginia and Richmond remain in phase one of reopening while the rest of Virginia moved to phase two on June 5. Once those remaining areas move to phase two, the gathering limit increases from 10 to 50 people, while indoor dining, indoor gyms and certain recreation and entertainment venues can reopen with restrictions.

- Alexandria: 2,102 cases, 208 hospitalizations, 45 deaths; increase of 32 cases, one hospitalization removed
- Arlington County: 2,256 cases, 392 hospitalizations, 122 deaths; increase of 61 cases, three hospitalizations and two deaths
- Fairfax County: 12,603 cases, 1,431 hospitalizations, 414 deaths; increase of 547 cases, 22 hospitalizations and one death
- Fairfax City: 69 cases, seven hospitalizations, five deaths; increase of one case
- Falls Church: 56 cases, 11 hospitalizations, eight deaths; no change
- Loudoun County: 3,147 cases, 181 hospitalizations, 67 deaths; increase of 208 cases and four hospitalizations
- Manassas: 1,248 cases, 77 hospitalizations, 11 deaths; increase of 34 cases, one death removed
- Manassas Park: 359 cases, 37 hospitalizations, six deaths; increase of eight cases and two hospitalizations
- Prince William County: 6,278 cases, 544 hospitalizations, 118 deaths; increase of 157 cases, 20 hospitalizations and eight deaths
- Fredericksburg: 196 cases, 22 hospitalizations, no deaths; increase of four cases, two hospitalizations removed
- Spotsylvania County: 707 cases, 47 hospitalizations, seven deaths; increase of 73 cases and two hospitalizations
- Stafford County: 815 cases, 84 hospitalizations, five deaths; increase of 50 cases and seven hospitalizations
