1 Dead, 3 Injured In Franconia Single-Vehicle Crash: Police

Police will charge the driver in the crash, which killed one passenger and injured two other passengers.

FRANCONIA, VA — One person is dead and three are injured in a Thursday crash in the Franconia area, according to Fairfax County Police. The driver will be charged in the crash.

The single-vehicle crash happened before 12:30 a.m. on Manchester Boulevard near Silver Lakes Boulevard. Police say the 2005 Toyota Solara was heading east on Manchester Boulevard, left the roadway and struck a telephone pole.

The front passenger, Danight Girmay, 20, of Lorton, died on the scene. The driver and the two rear passengers were taken to the hospital with injuries later found to be non-life-threatening.

Police issued a warrant for the driver, Sara Flores, 20, of Lorton. The warrant for driving under the influence will be served upon her release from the hospital. Detectives believe speed was also a contributing factor in the crash. Additional charges are pending.

This was the third non-pedestrian crash death in Fairfax County this year. The Major Crimes Bureau’s Victim Services Division is assisting the victim's family.
