2023 Budget Town Hall Planned In Lee District
After the Fairfax County budget was proposed for fiscal year 2023, officials will hold a town hall virtually.

KINGSTOWNE, VA — Lee District residents will have the chance to learn about the Fairfax County budget proposal and ask questions at a virtual town hall on March 17 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Lee District Supervisor Rodney Lusk will host the meeting with other staff to discuss the budget proposals for the county and Fairfax County Public Schools. Other participants include Lee District school board representative Tammy Derenak-Kaufax, Fairfax County Chief Financial Officer Christina Jackson, and FCPS Assistant Superintendent Leigh Burden.
Residents can ask questions about taxes, budget funding or other priorities. Questions can be submitted ahead of the meeting to leedist@fairfaxcounty.gov.

The proposed budget calls for keeping the Fairfax County real estate tax rate the same at $1.14 per $100 of assessed value. On Tuesday, the Board of Supervisors set the tax ceiling at $1.14 per $100 of assessed value, which means a higher rate cannot be considered. Even without a tax rate change, 2022 residential assessments increased by an average 9.57 percent, which would increase residential tax bills by an average $666. The average residential assessment increase in the Lee District is 8.88 percent. The county executive's budget proposal fully funds the FCPS transfer request and leaves $79.26 million unallocated for the Board of Supervisors to consider.
