5 Things To Do Around Alexandria This Weekend
Beer brunch, restaurant week and outdoor movies are among the fun things planned for this weekend in Alexandria.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—With less than a month to go before summer's end, make sure to check out these fun events on tap for the weekend.
1. Alexandria Restaurant Week: Your favorite restaurants around Alexandria are offering specials in this annual summer tradition. From August 18-27, you can visit 60 restaurants around the city for $35 three-course dinners or dinners for two and lunch specials for $10, $15 and $20. New participants include fresh faces on the restaurant scene: Hummingbird, Meggrolls, Myron Mixon’s Pitmaster Barbeque and Junction Bakery & Bistro.
2. Outdoor Movies: There are only a few more chances to catch a movie under the stars this summer. In Del Ray, the Jen Walker Team's Cinema Del Ray will present "Beauty and the Beast" at 7 p.m. Aug. 19 at the Mount Vernon Rec Center. And if you feel like going across the bridge into National Harbor, "The Mighty Ducks" will play Aug. 20 at 6 p.m.

3. Beer Brunch at River Farm: Do you like beer? Brunch? Why not have both together. Goose Island and Bang Bang Pie Shop are pairing up to offer a delicious brunch at the American Horticultural Society’s River Farm. Bang Bang will be preparing the meal on-site while the Goose Island team pours our Belgian Style Farmhouse Ale, Sofie, and creates some tasty Sofie-mosas; because, what's brunch without mimosas? The event will also feature live music and will raise funds for the American Horticultural Society. Drinks and River Farm tours are at 10:30 a.m. and food is served at noon.
4. Clear the Shelters: If you've been holding off on adopting, this is a good day to finally cave in. Join the Animal Welfare League and NBC Washington as adoption fees are waived Saturday, Aug. 19. Last year, 64 furry friends were adopted during the annual event.
