$50K Powerball Ticket Bought At Franconia Store

The Powerball jackpot winner didn't come from Virginia, but five Virginia tickets matched five of six numbers.

FRANCONIA, VA — Wednesday night's Powerball drawing found two winners for the $632 million jackpot, but neither were from Virginia. However, five tickets bought in Virginia matched five of the six numbers to win $50,000.

One of the $50,000 tickets was bought at the 7-Eleven, 6147 Franconia Road, Alexandria. According to the Virginia Lottery, tickets that won $50,000 matched four of the first five numbers and the Powerball number. The winning numbers were 6-14-25-33-46, and the Powerball number was 17.

Over 68,000 prizes were awarded in Virginia just in Wednesday's drawing. The Powerball jackpot that started in October and ended Wednesday generated over $18 million in revenue for K-12 education in Virginia.

Other $50,000 winners in Virginia were bought at Kroger, 555 N. Franklin Street, Christiansburg; Royal, 895 East Market Street, Harrisonburg; Buckos Pantry, 7554 Peppers Ferry Boulevard, Radford; and Food Lion, 36127 Godwin Drive, Locust Grove.

The $632 million jackpot winners come from California and Wisconsin. The Wisconsin Lottery confirmed its winning ticket was bought in Green Bay, and the California ticket came from Sacramento. The tickets have yet to be claimed, but the winners would split the jackpot and each get a $315 million prize.

The Powerball prize now resets with an estimated jackpot of $20 million for the Saturday, Jan. 8 drawing. Powerball drawings are held at 10:59 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. The chances of winning the $50,000 prize are 1 in 913,129, while the odds of matching all six numbers to win the jackpot are 1 in 292,201,338.
