Arrest Made In Fatal Springfield Hit-And-Run
The pedestrian was walking in the right lane of the road when the driver hit him, according to Fairfax County Police.

SPRINGFIELD, VA — Fairfax County Police arrested and charged a driver Tuesday for the Feb. 1 hit-and-run that killed a pedestrian in Springfield. The arrest comes after the Crash Reconstruction Unit identified the vehicle and driver through investigative leads.
Willams Claros, 52, of Alexandria, is charged with involuntary manslaughter under the influence and felony hit-and-run and was held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without bond.
The crash, Fairfax County's third pedestrian fatality of 2020, happened around 1 a.m. on Industrial Road near Backlick Road. Police believe the pedestrian was walking in the right lane of westbound Industrial Road when a westbound SUV struck him. The driver did not stop and was last seen heading north on Backlick Road.

The pedestrian, David Velasquez, 29, of Arlington, was taken to the hospital and died from his injuries.
