Assistance League Providing Over 1,000 Books for Summer Reading

Students at Several Elementary Schools To Receive New Books

On May 31st fifteen members of Assistance League of Northern Virginia gathered at Oakton Library to pack new books for students to read this summer. The members applied labels, sorted the books into grade levels (Grades 1 through 6), and counted them: a total of 1,110 new books! Members packed 15 boxes with 74 books each - for June, July, and August - and delivered them to 5 local elementary schools. Assistance League also provided books for the pre-K and kindergarten summer reading programs at a few of the schools. Assistance League hopes the children enjoy reading new books during the summer.
