Fairfax County Police have released the name of a boy killed in a freak accident Friday at a Franconia elementary school.

KINGSTOWNE, VA — Fairfax County Police have released the name of a boy killed Friday in a freak accident at an elementary school on Beulah Road. Wesley Lipicky, 9, died after he was crushed by a room partition at Franconia Elementary School gym. The accident happened about 4:45 p.m. as Wesley was attending the School Age Child Care program, police said.

The child and a teacher simultaneously pressed a button to open a large, motorized room partition that splits in the middle. Wesley was caught between the partition and a wall, and suffered traumatic head injuries, police said.

The boy was pronounced dead at an area hospital Friday night. An autopsy ruled the death was accidental.
